If you are buying something, you might use: “Id like to buy this _____” (while pointing at it, or showing it to the sales person.) Here are some suitable responses: (YES) “Yes, you can borrow it.” “Sure thing.” “Okay.” (NO) “No way.” “Sorry, its my only one. I cant let it go” “No way, hozay!” “Im sorry.” 1) Have the students practise these for awhile, hopefully this is fun, then 2) Have them borrow things from each other in reversing pairs, based on the included picture cards. Reversing pairs means they trade roles at times. 3) Have them use their mobile phones and pretend to call (Ring!, Ring!) each other to borrow things. It helps to have two people face away from each other, back-to-back is best, to make their calls. 4) Have them buy and sell these things in the pictures, as well as borrowing them, with and without using the telephone. Heres another one. Explain this to your students, then do it with them: Someone calls out Ring! Ring!
