This knocking about gave him a wide knowledge of humanity. As one of America’s first and foremost realists and humorists, Mark Twain usually wrote about his own personal experiences and things he knew about from firsthand experience. His life spanned the two Americas, the frontier America and the emerging urban, industrial giant of the twenty-century. Mark Twain wrote a lot of novels, one of which is this book. It is a literary masterpiece. The story line is simple, the book reads like a biography or a memoir of a summer in Tom Sawyers life. The story happened in a small town near the Mississippi river. He is an imaginative and mischievous boy. He lives with his aunt Polly, half brother Sid and Cousin Mary. He always likes to mischief. His aunt Polly loves him very much, but she feels sad when Tom have done something harm. One day, Tom met a girl named Becky Thatcher. She is the daughter of the judge Thatcher. She is so beautiful that Tom fell in love with her. He tries everything to draw her attention and it seems worked. Tom’s best friend Huck is the town’s outcast. His father is a drunk. He always beats Huck and never cares about him. All the adults in the town hate him. They think their children will be misled by him. They told their children to leave him alone.
