Yuan, won a 5 million yuan State Supreme Science and Technology Award in 2001, known as the Nobel Prize in China, for his outstanding achievements in breeding high-yield hybrid rice, which has substantially increased Chinas grain output. Yuan came up with the idea of hybridizing rice for the first time in the world in 1960s. Since then, 50 percent o
