Teaching steps: Step1: First listening Listen to the tape for the first time, paying more attention to the numbers mentioned in the passage. Finish Part A on page 26 Step2: Second listening Listen to the tape again for more information. Answer the following questions. 1. How can short-sightedness be corrected? 2. What is recommended when someone wants to get contact lenses or to have laser eye surgery? Why ? 3. What will happen if short-sightedness is not discovered and dealt with? Step3: Finish Part B and Part C Read aloud the instructions and choose the correct answers. Listen to Part C and choose the right answers. Step4: Interviewing a doctor Organize students into small groups and ask them to discuss solutions to protect eyesight. Go through the sentence structures on page 28, make sure they understand each suggestion. Students work in pairs. Demonstrate some of their interviews in class. Step5: Writing a radio script 1. Have the students work in groups to write an outline. 2. Organize their information. 3. Read the script to a partner to improve the script. Homework: 1. Read the passage in Part A on page 117 in Workbook. Then write a passage according to the information given in Part B. 2. Unit Revision: Periods 7 8.
