第 卷 第 期 35 4 质 谱 学 报 Vol.35 No.4 年 月 2014 7 Journal of Chinese Mass Spectrometry Society Jul.2014 The Impact of Forage on the Stable Carbon Isotope Composition in Milk WANG Lei 1,2,3,ZHONG Qi-ding2,3,WANG Dao-bing2,3, LIU Ming2,3,TAO Hong-bing2,3,WU Zhu-ying2,3, XIONG Zheng-he2,3,XIAO Dong-guang1 (1.Tianjin University of Science and Technology,Tianjin300457,China; 2.China National Research Institute of Food & Fermentation Industries,Beijing100027,China; 3.National Standardization Centre of Food & Fermentation Industry,Beijing100027,China) Abstract:The stable carbon isotope (δ13 C)ratios of whole milk and its isolated compo- nents(casein,skim milk,and fat)were determined by elemental analysis-isotoperatio mass spectrometry (EA-IRMS).This technique was found to be repeatable and possess good accuracy with a standard deviation of less than 0.1‰ (n=5).A comparison of the δ13C values of different milk samples indicates that theδ13C composition is impacted by the type of forage consumed by the cows.Theδ13C values of milk from farms in which maize is the main roughage are higher than-17.6‰,are relatively lower when the diet contains Leymus chinensis and alfalfa.Theδ13 C values of commercially available milk purchased from different regions demonstrate distinct characteristics,milk samples from China and countries using advanced animal husbandry practices are significant differences.The con- clusion of this research verifiedδ13C values in terms of tracing the types of milk and produ- cing areas.The accumulated data was used to lay a theoretical foundation for the applica- tion of stable isotope analysis techniques in milk traceability.
