Teaching Goals:
1. To arouse Ss’ interest in learning the differences of the dragon in different countries.
2. To make Ss develop the patriotic feeling.
3. To let Ss learn how to write a mystery of China.
4. To help Ss review what we have learnt in this module
Teaching Procedures
Step 1. Writing
1). Group work
Ask Ss to read the passage on page 52 and answer the questions in Activity 1 on page 57.
Suggested Answers:
2).Make up a story about another monster or mystery. Discuss in a group of 4 and write down the key points.
Give the monster / the mystery a special name.
Begin by saying what happened and where.
Describe the appearance of the monster or the phenomena.
Give an explanation or theory about the monster or the phenomena.
Extend the story and give the presentation.

(1)Tell the location of the place where your explained mystery exists. Give practical information, such as a map of the area.
(2)Say what happened there.
(3)Describe what the monster is like or how the phenomena are.
(4)Finish your article by giving an explanation or theory about your monster / phenomena.

Step 2. Cultural Corner
Purpose: To arouse Ss’ interest in learning the differences of the dragon in different countries.
For your reference:
Western dragons were typically bad creatures which had to be killed. But in China they were generous and wise, and associated with the royal family to show power and strength.
Questions
What do Chinese think of dragons?
What do westerners think of dragons?
Suggested answers:
Generous, wise, unpredictable, brave, related to royal family.
It is dangerous and has a negative reputation.
But the red dragon on the Welsh flag is a positive symbol.
