Abstract: Objective To observe the changes of hemorheological parameters in patients with diabetes mellitus. Methods The hemorheological parameters from90patients with diabetes mellitus and86controls were determined by shell cup viscometer.The factors of age, body weight and state of the disease excluded. Results The whole blood viscosity (both at height shear and low’s shear rate), plasma fibrinogen concentrations and the estimated whole blood viscosity of the diabetes patients were significantly higher than those of the controls.There no significant difference in hematocrit in subject and control groups were observed. Conclusion There are variations of hemorheological parameters in patient with diabetes mellitus.It is one of the important measures to improve hemorheological conditions in patients with diabetes.
