Methods 16 patients with MR diagnosis of DVA reviewed the clinical data. Results showed 16 cases of plain draining veins, 12 cases were enhanced scan shows the draining veins and medullary veins, and showed characteristic features, 5 magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) found 3 cases of gross venous drainage. Conclusion MR scan showing the venous drainage; MR enhanced scan can show small medullary veins, the diagnosis of DVA accurate and reliable method. [Keywords:] magnetic resonance imaging; cerebral developmental venous anomaly; diagnosis Abstract Objective To analyze the MRI manifestation of cerebral developmental venous anomalies (DVA) and the diagnostic value of MRI.Methods A retrospective analysis was made to the clinical data of 16 cases with DVA diagnosed by MRI.Result Draining veins were found in 16 cases by plain scanning, draining veins as well as medullary veins with characteristic manifestation were found in 12 cases by enhanced scanning; out the 5 cases receiving MRA, 3 cases showed out dilated draining veins.Conclusions The plain scanning of MRI can show out the draining veins while the enhanced scanning of MRI can show out the slim medullary veins, which is accurate and reliable in diagnosing DVA.
