Abstract: Objective To study the rhododendrons Antitussive total flavonoids and toxicity of anti-asthmatic effect. Methods The acute toxicity testing to determine efficacy doses to chronic bronchitis are the main symptoms - cough, dyspnea as the pharmacodynamic target, using ammonia cited cough in mice, the overall Animal Study of asthma drug azalea flavonoids antitussive asthma effect. Results rhododendrons flavonoids (0.064 g / kg) on induced cough in mice has significant antitussive effect, acid-loving plant flavonoids (0.038 g / kg) on induced asthma in guinea pigs has significant anti-asthmatic effect, while the acid-loving plant extracts and total flavonoids in experimental animals with different degrees of toxicity. Conclusion rhododendrons to play a pharmacodynamics of total flavonoids in the same time, can not ignore its toxicity.

Study on Antitussive, Antiasthmatic Effects and Toxicity of Total Flavanoid of Rhododendron simsii Planch
Abstract: ObjectiveTo study antitussive, antiasthmatic effects and toxicity of total flavanoid of Rhododendron simsii Planch (TFR). MethodsEffective dosage was decided with acute toxicity experiment. As major symptoms of chronic bronchitis, cough and asthma were studied on TFR with experiments of mice and Guinea pigs with ammonia and histamine, respectively.ResultsTFR (0.064,0.038 g / kg) had obvious antitussive, antiasthmatic effects on mice and guinea pigs with ammonia and histamine, respectively. And Rhododendron simsii Planch extracts, total flavanoid had different degree of toxicity reactions to laboratory animal. ConclusionToxicity of TFR shouldn’t be neglected when it has effects.
