Ways to urethane (1 000 mg / kg) 1 in mice induced by intraperitoneal injection of lung cancer, mice fed with lycopene for 18 weeks to observe the rate of tumor detection in serum and lung tissue superoxide dismutase ( SOD), catalase (CAT), glutathione  S  transferase (GST) activity and malondialdehyde (MDA), interleukin  2 (IL  2) and tumor necrosis factor (TNF  α) levels. Results lycopene on urethane-induced lung cancer in mice after the formation of SOD, CAT activity and IL  2 and TNF  α levels have also picked up the role, and can stop with the corresponding GST activity in cancerous and the MDA content increased, reducing the incidence of cancer . Conclusion of lycopene on urethane-induced lung cancer in mice have a preventive effect, the main mechanism may be related to antioxidant and immunomodulatory effects. 【Key Words】 Lycopene; urethane; lung cancer Effect of Lycopene on Lung Carcinogenesis Induced by Urethane Abstract: ObjectiveTo study the effect of lycopene on lung carcinogenesis induced by urethane. MethodsThe mouse lung carcinoma was induced by intraperitioneal urethane 1 000 mg / kg. The animals were treated with lycopene for 18 weeks to investigate the rate of tumor formation.The activities of SOD, CAT, GST and the contents of MDA, IL  2 and TNF  α in serum and in lung homogenate were tested.ResultsLycopene could increase the activities of SOD and CAT, increase the content of IL  2 and TNF  α, prevent GST and MDA from increasing, reduce the rate of carcinogenesis.Conclusion Lycopene can prevent lung carcinogenesis induced by urethane, which might be related to its antioxidantion and immune-regulation.
