Abstract: ObjectiveTo study the inhibitory effect of capsicum, garlic and several herbs on pathogens.MethodsThe minimum inhibiting concentration (MIC) of these herbs on chosen pathogens was determined by KB programm. ResultsCapsicum could inhibit S.typhimurium and S.aureus in vitro with MIC 12.5% and 12.5% respectively; Garlic showed inhibitory effect on S.typhimurium and S.aureus with MIC 6.25% and 12.5% respectively; Other herbs had great inhibitory effect on chosen pathogens. ConclusionCapsicum and garlic can inhibit some pathogens in vitro. Traditional Chinese herbs such as Bark of Chinese Corktree can inhibit pathogens greatly. Medium affects inhibiting effect greatly.
