Methods Retrospective analysis confirmed by surgery or biopsy in 12 cases of purulent infection gluteal and MRI. Results 12 patients suffering from diffuse gluteus enlargement of the lesion along the long axis of the development of muscle-based, involving all or most of gluteal muscle, the basic signs of muscle edema, necrosis and abscess formation .8 cases of subacute or chronic infection appears fibrous granulation tissue, each with different pathological MRI signal .5 cases showed features of pyogenic myositis, inflammatory edema is more extensive form of a typical muscle abscess in 7 cases, large abscess or abscess .5 cases of pyomyositis based antibiotic therapy, 7 cases of muscle abscess line puncture or incision and drainage, were cured. Conclusions MRI can reflect various periods of gluteal purulent infection and pathological features of lesions, and correct diagnosis, clinical treatment of important guiding significance. Methods The clinical and MRI data of 12 cases with the pyogenic infection in gluteus muscles proved by operation or biopsy were retrospectively analysed. Results The MRI of the 12 cases displayed that the infective gluteus muscles were swelling diffusely and the infections developed along the long axis of the muscles and most or all gluteus muscles were involved in.
