Another study showed that [3], schizophrenia population the incidence of type 2 diabetes in the general population is 3 to 4 times, it was reported incidence of diabetes in patients with schizophrenia nearly 10.8%, while diabetes in the general population is only about 3%, this new type of antipsychotic drugs and metabolic adverse effects are reviewed. 1 Metabolic syndrome and schizophrenia Reduced glucose tolerance, insulin resistance, diabetes, obesity (especially visceral obesity), lipid metabolism and hypertension are independent risk factors for cardiovascular disease, and often has, or within the same individual or the same family with a variety of metabolic related diseases closely linked, in view of the 1997 Zimmet and other advocates of these risk factors of metabolic endocrine disorder called metabolic syndrome (MS.
