[Abstract] medical education is currently moving from the past, the net bio-medical model to the physical - mental - social environment paradigm shift on medical education put forward new demands. [Abstract] Medical education has been transformed from physiological biomedical model to a social environment of a psychological change in the pattern of a new medical education requirement. To adapt to the modern medical education model and improve the level of teaching quality, Weifang Medical University has introduced the problem-based learning method. This paper has discussed the application of PBL teaching in oral medicine education in School of Stomatology, Weifang Medical University.

Problem-based teaching and learning (problem-based learning, PBL) is one of the advanced teaching methods, it produces in 1960, by Canada’s MeMaster University School of Medicine presented [1]. Since then, many areas in the world of different teaching levels, various versions of the PBL emerged. Now, PBL’s role in medical education reform has been widely reported, such as the clinical application of knowledge to build a system to improve the logical thinking and reasoning ability, promote student self-study, to stimulate enthusiasm for learning [2]. Will now be applied to the oral medicine subjects PBL curriculum has become a trend [3].
