The increase of dietaryphytatelevelisshowntoincreaseendogenouslossesofamino acidsandmineralsinpigs.ThepartialavailabilityofthePcomponentof phytatetosimple-stomachedspeciesattainsimportanceastheworlds rockphosphatereservesarenotrenewable,whichcouldleadtoaP supply crisis in the future. Supplementing phytase is becoming increasingly common as a method to improve the availability of P in plantingredientscontaininghighlevelsofphytateP. Fourty-eight pigs (Swedish Landrace boars × Dutch landrace sows)weanedatday35withaninitialBWof8.72±0.28kgwereused fora40-dayweanerperformancestudy.Thestudywasstructuredasa completerandomizeddesigntoevaluatetheresponseofweanerpigs to four concentrations of microbial phytase produced by Aspergillus niger: (T1) basal diet; (T2) basal diet + 1000 FTU/kg; (T3) diet with decreaseddicalciumphosphate+1000 FTU/kg;and(T4)dietwithno dicalciumphosphate+1000 FTU/kg. Controlgroupofpiglets(T1)hasachievedstandardbodymass whileadditionofphytaseinmealincreasedbodymassby6.59%inT2 and7.52%inT3.Phytasesupplementationpreventeddecreasedbody weightgaindietswhereavailablephosphorouslevelwasreducedby 50. The amount of consumed feed per day was not significantly different.FeedefficiencyofT2andT3groupswasby3.23%betterand ofT4for11.29%lowercomparedtothecontrolgroupofpiglets(T1).
