Vermont study slide 2 Emissions from used oil burning had elevated contaminant levels compared to burning No. 2 fuel oil Contaminant levels either met ambient air standards or were low enough that there were analytical detection and quantification problems Ecology transporter project Sampling occurred in May, 2000 At the transporter facilities Samples were taken from used oil transporter storage tanks Unable to match specific generators to contaminants Ecology transporter project slide 2 Contamination frequently found Common contaminants were Lead Tetrachloroethene (aka perc) Methylene chloride Emerald Petroleum 21,000+ oil pickups made Nearly 8 million gallons of used oil collected 10 instances were subjected to closer analysis These 10 totaled 6,600 gallons Automotive maintenance, auto wrecking yard, small aircraft maintenance, manufacturing plant maintenance shop, electrical equipment service, and small engine maintenance Emerald Petroleum slide 2 All were investigated by Emerald and found to be legitimate, contamination through use.
