AntibioticResistanceofBacteriaIsolatedfromthe InternalOrgansofEdibleSnowCrabs MisoonKim1,Tae-HyungKwon1,Su-MiJung2,Seung-HakCho2,SeonYeongJin1,Nyun-HoPark1, Choong-GonKim1,Jong-ShikKim1* 1GyeongbukInstituteforMarineBioindustry,Jukbyeon-Meon,Uljin-Gun,Gyeongbuk,RepublicofKorea,2DivisionofEntericBacterialInfections,CenterforInfectious Diseases,KoreaNationalInstituteofHealth,Cheongwon-Gun,Chungcheongbuk,RepublicofKorea Abstract Antibiotic resistance and microbiota within edible snow crabs are important for the Chionoecetes (snow crab) fishing industry.Weinvestigatedtheseparametersusingculturemethodsandantibioticsusceptibilitytestswithsixinternalorgans fromthreespeciesofChionoecetes.EachsamplerevealedmanyunexpectedmicrobialspecieswithinChionoecetesinternal organs.Onthebasisof16SrRNAsequenceanalysisof381isolates,themostabundantgeneraidentifiedinChionoecetes opiliowereAcinetobacterspp.(24%),Bacillusspp.(4%),Pseudomonasspp.(34%),Stenotrophomonasspp.(28%),andAgreia spp.(11%).InChionoecetessp.crabs,Acinetobacterspp.(23%),Bacillusspp.(12%),andPsychrobacterspp.(20%)weremost prevalent,whileAgreiaspp.(11%),Bacillusspp.(31%),Microbacteriumspp.(10%),Rhodococcusspp.(12%),andAgrococcus spp.(6%)weremostabundantinC.japonicus.Ourantibioticresistancetestfoundresistancetoallnineantibioticstestedin 19,14,andtwooftheisolatesfromC.opilio,Chionoecetessp.,and,C.japonicusrespectively.Ourresultsarethefirsttoshow thatmicrobeswithantibioticresistancearewidelydistributedthroughouttheinternalorgansofnaturalsnowcrabs.
