The problem considered in this paper is how to measure the degree of resemblance between nonarthritic and arthritic hand movementsduringrehabilitationexercise.Thesolutiontothisproblemstemsfromrecentworkonatolerancespaceviewofdigital imagesandtheintroductionofimageresemblancemeasures.Themotivationforthisworkisbothtoquantifyandtovisualize di?erencesbetweenhand-?ngermovementsinane?orttoprovidecliniciansandphysicianswithindicationsofthee?cacyofthe prescribedrehabilitationexercise.Themorerecentintroductionoftolerancenearsetshasledtoausefulapproachformeasuring thesimilarityofsetsofobjectsandtheirapplicationtotheproblemofclassifyingimagesequencesextractedfromvideosshowing ?nger-hand movement during rehabilitation exercise.
