Prometheus A Story from Greek Myths Prometheus was happy to be of service to man. He taught people how to make their own tools and how to build homes for themselves. He taught them how to plant and grow their own food, and how to use animals to make their work easier. He even taught them how to make music and how to paint. But without fire, life on earth was very difficult. Food had to be eaten raw; houses could not be kept warm. Tools had to be of stone, because there was no fire for working metals. 21. Prometheus A Story from Greek Myths Now Zeus was a jealous god. He grudged men all the gifts that Prometheus had given them and he was angry with Prometheus for teaching men so many things. And so when he found that Prometheus had given to men this final gift of fire, he burst out into uncontrollable rage. He ordered his two invincible servants, Power and Violence, to seize Prometheus and to carry him to the highest peak of the dreadful Caucasus. 21. Prometheus A Story from Greek Myths … there was a moment fixed in the hidden and distant future when Zeus, if he made a certain marriage, would become the father of a son mightier than himself,
