Yet, the association between soil- transmittedhelminth(STH)andthecumulativeincidenceofSchistosomajaponicuminfectionhasnotbeendescribed.The aimofthisworkwastoquantifytheeffectofmisclassificationerror,whichoccurswhenlessthan100%accuratetestsare used,inSTHandS.japonicuminfectionstatusontheestimationofthisassociation. Methodology/Principal Findings: Longitudinal data from 2276 participants in 50 villages in Samar province, Philippines treatedatbaselineforS.japonicuminfectionandfollowedforoneyear,servedasthebasisforthisanalysis.Participants provided1–3stoolsamplesatbaselineand12monthslater(2004–2005)todetectinfectionswithSTHandS.japonicum usingtheKato-Katztechnique.Variationfromday-to-dayintheexcretionofeggsinfecesintroducesindividualvariationsin thesensitivityandspecificityoftheKato-Katztodetectinfection.Bayesianlogitmodelswereusedtotakethisvariationinto accountandtoinvestigatetheimpactofmisclassificationerrorontheassociationbetweentheseinfections.Uniformpriors forsensitivityandspecificityofthediagnostictesttodetectthethreeSTHand S.japonicumwereused.Allresultswere adjustedforage,sex,occupation,andvillage-levelclustering.Withoutcorrection
