We show in this paper that a recombinant Autographa californica multiple nuclear polyhedrosisviruscarryingafragmentofovalbumin(OVA)ontheVP39capsidprotein(BV-OVA)hasthecapacitytoactas anadjuvantandvectorofantigensinmice,therebypromotingspecificCD4andcytotoxicTcellresponsesagainstOVA.BV alsoinducedinvivomaturationofdendriticcellsandtheproductionofinflammatorycytokines,thuspromotinginnateand adaptiveimmuneresponses.TheOVA-specificresponseinducedbyBV-OVAwasstrongenoughtorejectachallengewith OVA-expressing melanoma cells (MO5 cells) and effectively prolonged survival of MO5 bearing mice. All these findings, togetherwiththeabsenceofpre-existingimmunitytoBVinhumansandthelackofviralgeneexpressioninmammalian cells,makeBVacandidateforvaccination.
