Methods:Thestudywasaschool-basedinterventionconductedinthreemiddleschoolsandtwohighschoolsinWuhan, China,whichincluded702boysand766girls,withagesfrom11to18yearsold.Theinterventionwasaone-classeducation programaboutHIV/AIDSforparticipants.HIV/AIDSknowledge,attitude,andhigh-riskbehaviorswereinvestigatedusingan anonymous self-administered questionnaire before and after the education intervention. Chi-square test was used to comparedifferencesbeforeandaftertheintervention.Non-conditionallogisticregressionanalysiswasusedtoidentifythe factorsthataffectHIV/AIDSknowledge. Results:Misconceptionsaboutbasicmedicalknowledgeandnon-transmissionmodesofHIV/AIDSamongallthestudents prevail.Approximately10%to40%ofstudentshadnegativeattitudesaboutHIV/AIDSbeforetheintervention.Afterthe intervention, all of the students had significant improvements in knowledge and attitude about HIV/AIDS (P,.05), indicating that educational intervention increased the students’ knowledge significantly and changed their attitudes positively.Logisticregressionanalysesindicatedthatbeforetheinterventionthestudents’l
