Methods:PubMed/MEDLINE,IME,IBECSandTESEOwerecomprehensivelysearched.Originalreportswereselected iftheyprovideddataonprevalenceestimatesofADHDamongpeopleunder18yearsoldinSpainandwerecross- sectional,observationalepidemiologicalstudies.Informationfromincludedstudieswassystematicallyextractedand evaluated.Overallpooled-prevalenceestimatesofADHDwerecalculatedusingrandom-effectsmodels.Sourcesof heterogeneitywereexploredbymeanssub-groupsanalysesandunivariatemeta-regressions. Results:Fourteenepidemiologicalstudies(13,026subjects)wereselected.Theoverallpooled-prevalenceofADHD wasestimatedat6.8%[95%confidenceinterval(CI)4.9–8.8%]representing361,580(95%CI260,550–467,927) childrenandadolescentsinthecommunity.Therewassignificantheterogeneity(P0.001),whichwas incompletelyexplainedbysubgroupanalysesandmeta-regressions. Conclusions:OurfindingssuggestthattheprevalenceofADHDamongchildrenandadolescentsinSpainis consistentwithpreviousstudiesconductedinothercountriesandregions.Thisstudyrepresentsafirststepin estimatingthenationalburdenofADHDthatwillbeessentialtobuildingevidence-basedprogramsandservices.
