Abstract
Accidentaloilspillsandwastedisposalareimportantsourcesforenvironmentalpollution.Weinvestigatedthe
biodegradationofalkanesbyPseudomonasaeruginosaATCC55925inrelationtoarhamnolipidsurfactant
producedbythesamebacterialstrain.ResultsshowedthatthelinearC11-C21compoundsinaheatingoilsample
degradedfrom6%to100%,whereastheiso-alkanestendedtoberecalcitrantunlesstheywereexposedto
