Abstract
Background:Animportantquestioningenomeevolutioniswhetherthereexistfragileregions(rearrangement
hotspots)wherechromosomalrearrangementsarehappeningoverandoveragain.Althoughnearlyallrecent
studiessupportedtheexistenceoffragileregionsinmammaliangenomes,themostcomprehensivephylogenomic
studyofmammalsraisedsomedoubtsabouttheirexistence.
Results:Herewedemonstratethatfragileregionsaresubjecttoabirthand
