Methods:Westudiedtheeffectofmatingdesigns,random,minimumcoancestryandminimumcovarianceof ancestralcontributionsonrateofinbreedingandgeneticgainforschemeswithdifferentinformationsources,i.e. sibtestorownperformancerecords,differentgeneticevaluationmethods,i.e.BLUPorgenomicselection,and differentfamilystructures,i.e.factorialorpair-wise. Results:Resultsshowedthatsubstantialdifferencesinratesofinbreedingduetomatingdesignwerepresent underschemeswithapair-wisefamilystructure,forwhichminimumcoancestryturnedouttobemoreeffective togeneratelowerratesofinbreeding.Specifically,substantialreductionsinratesofinbreedingwereobservedin schemesusingsibtestrecordsandBLUPevaluation.However,withafactorialfamilystructure,differencesinrates ofinbreedingduematingdesignswereminor.Moreover,non-randommatinghadonlyasmalleffectinbreeding schemesthatusedgenomicevaluation,regardlessoftheinformationsource. Conclusions:ItwasconcludedthatminimumcoancestryremainsanefficientmatingdesignwhenBLUPisused forgeneticevaluationorwhenthesizeofthepopulationissmall,whereastheeffectofnon-randommatingis smallerinschemesusinggenomicevaluation.
