Real-timePCRrevealedthatthe CA3mRNAexpression showedno di?erenceswithageinskeletalmusclesfromYorkshirepigsatpostnatalday-1,month-2,and month-4.Weprovidethe?rstevidencethatCA3isdi?erentiallyexpressedintheskeletalmuscle ofYorkshireandMeishanpigbreeds.Inaddition,thewholepiggenomicDNAsequenceofCA3 wasinvestigatedandshowntocontainsevenexonsandsixintrons.Comparativesequencingof thegenefromthreepigbreedsrevealedtheexistenceofmicrosatelliteSJ160inintron5and microsatelliteSJ158andanovelmicrosatellitemarkerthatincludesatandemrepeatof(TC)n inintron4.Wealsodeterminedtheallelenumber andfrequencies ofthethreelociinseven pigbreedsandfoundthattheyarelowpolymorphicmicrosatellitemarkers.Statisticalanalysis showed that the CA3 microsatellite polymorphism was associated with dressing percentage, internalfatrate,carcasslength,ribnumberandbackfatthic
