The external loading on buried pipelines mainly includes static loading and dynamic loading. The former is mainly related with fill loading and traffic loading, and the latter is mainly related with earthquake response. When the static loading was studied previously, the pipe-soil interaction was less considered. In the study of earthquake response, inertia force of pipes was not taken into consideration.
