Experimental re sults showed that under these experimental conditions. the main form of organic matler accumulated in the substrate o f the verticaHlow cOnslrucled werland sys- lems was insoluble organic maller Wilh granule size of above 5.00μm. which wa s accumulated by inoluble organic matters w ith other granule sizes. Organic matter 8ccumularion and d istribution of locarion were influenced by water hydraulic loading. MOSI of lhe organic matlers were removed by planls and microorganism with the tOlal removal ratio of more than 99.9 %.
