Module 3 The Violence of Nature 教学计划 本单元分为十个课时: 第一课时:Introduction Cultural Corner; 第二,三课时:Reading and Vocabulary Writing;; 第四课时:Listening and Vocabulary; Function; Everyday English; 第五课时:Grammar I The Past Perfect Passive; 第六课时:Grammar II Indirect Speech; 第七,八,九课时:报纸练习。 Period One Introduction Cultural Corner Teaching goals: I Knowledge and skills: Make students master some new words; Lead students to talk about natural disasters and broaden their visions about earthquakes through the passage. Make sure students can use simple English to describe a natural disaster they have experienced or seen before. II Process and methods: Train students’ speaking ability through individual and pair work. III Emotion and values: Through the teaching of this module the teacher may acquaint students with what they should do when a natural disaster occurs in the future. Teaching important point: Make students describe a natural disaster they have experienced. Teaching difficult point: Encourage students to talk about natural disasters. Teaching methods: Individual work, pair work to get every student to participate in the activities. Part One Introduction (Teaching procedures) Step I Lead-in 1 Ask students to list the names of natural disasters . T: Good morning, class! On our earth, there are various natural phenomena, which sometimes become disasters and bring us great loss and sufferings. Can you list some natural disasters ? Suggested answers: flood, earthquake, tornado, mud-rock flow, volcano, drought, lightning, hurricane, thunderstorm ,etc. Step II Activity 1 1 Read the words in the box and match the words with their definitions. Suggested answers: 1 flood 2 hurricane 3 thunderstorm 4 lightning 5 tornado 2 Discuss these questions.
