Ethical considerations 10 Before beginning the interviews, participants were given an opportunity to ask any questions or clarify any concerns about the study. Consent forms for face-to-face interviews were signed immediately prior to the interview. Participants were told that they could stop the interview or withdraw from the study at any time. The sensitive nature of the topic and theoretical debates surrounding the ethics of interviewing a bereaved person or those who support them were acknowledged.
