Types of Magnetism Diamagnetism ( 反磁性): the property of an object or material that causes it to create a magnetic field in opposition to an externally applied magnetic field (weak effect). Paramagnetism (顺磁性): refers to materials like aluminum or platinum which become magnetized in a magnetic field but their magnetism disappears when the field is removed.
