A Study of the Influence of the Different Inlet- Port Combination
the Swirl Ratio and Airflow in the Four- Valve Diesel Engine

Abstract There are some different ways of arranging porting for the four - valve diesel engine,
such as two helical intake ports, two tangential intake ports or one helical port and one tangential port
etc. The helical intake port and the tangential intake port have different velocity distribution in cylinder,
so the different inlet- port combination must result in the different airflow rate and the swirl ratio. This
paper describes the results that the authors have investigated in the steady- flow rig.
