Brief Introduction for Pilot Project of 25MW Straw-fired Power Plantin Rudong, Jiangsu, People’ s Republic of China Pilot Project of 25MW Straw-fired Power Plant in Rudong locates in the Juegang town of Rudong county of Jiangsu province. The project is consisted of a 110t/h high temperature and high pressure straw-fired drum boiler and a 25MW condensing steam turbine-generator unit. Northeast Electric Power Design Institute (NEPDI) undertakes to construct this project with EPC mode. The project began to pour the first tank of the concrete on Mar. 27, 2007 and successfully ignited the boiler on Dec. 2007. The power plant will use the straw fuel to complete the 72+24 hours commissioning. The total investment for the project is about 299 million Yuan RMB and uses 10 million US Dollars. The project is respectively invested by Jiansu Guoxin Asset Management Group Ltd (65% of investment) and Nantong Investment Management Co. Ltd. (35% of investment). Boiler fuel mainly uses soft straws, such as rice straw, wheat straw and corn straw, etc.. And feeding facility for hard straws is installed in the power plant, which is possible for using the branches, cotton straw, rice shells and peanut shells etc.. There are 23 purchasing straw stations within the boundary of Rudong county, where the biomass fuels are baled (for rice straw and wheat straw), crushed (for branches and cotton straw) and stored. When necessary, the biomass fuels will be transported into the storehouse in the power plant area. An unloading system and belt conveying system are provided in the storehouse to convey the straws into the boiler. The water supply for the circulating makeup water and service water of the power plant intakes from Jiuyao River near the site.
