【Press Release】 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 2016 Hong Kong Wine Registration Scheme and Wine Storage Management Systems Certification Scheme Presentation Ceremony Successfully Held (11 November 2016, Hong Kong) Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency (HKQAA) today held the “2016 Hong Kong Wine Registration Scheme and Wine Storage Management Systems Certification Scheme Presentation Ceremony” at the Hong Kong International Wine Spirits Fair. Mr David Wong, JP, Deputy Secretary for Commerce Economic Development (Commerce Industry), the Government of the HKSAR, was the officiating guest. Give Consumer Confidence with Identifiable Source The HKQAA - Hong Kong Wine Registration Scheme aims to recognise an organisation’s ability to maintain proper record of wine they handle. Registered organisations can attach Scheme Labels with a unique QR code to the bottles of their wine. Consumers can easily scan the QR code with a smartphone to verify the wine online and get more information of the wine, so as to enhance consumer confidence in their purchase. 36 organisations have registered (see Appendix for details) and so committed to providing identifiable sources of wine. Systematic Storage Management to Protect Wine Quality Another of our wine-related scheme, the Wine Storage Management Systems Certification Scheme, is the first of its kind in the globe. It provides a framework for every party along the supply chain to deliver proper wine storage and transportation. The objective is to ensure industry standards and protect wine quality. 57 certifications have been issued (see Appendix for details).
