Unit 2 English around the World
Knowledge aims:
1. Get the Ss to learn some British and American words and expressions which are different but have the same meaning.
2. Get the Ss to learn patterns for difficulties in language communication.
Ability aims:
1. Develop the students抯peaking ability by making and acting dialogues.
2. Enable the Ss to learn to use patterns for difficulties in language communication.
Emotional aims:
Enable the Ss to master more Br and Am. words and expressions wh ich are different but have the same meaning and patterns for difficulties in communication so that they can communicate with foreigners more freely.
Teaching focus: Develop the students抯peaking ability by making and acting dialogues.
Teaching difficulties : Enable the Ss to ask directions by using patterns for difficulties in language communication.
Teaching methods:
1. Task-based teaching and learning
2. Cooperative learning
3. Role-play
Teaching aids: Multimedia facilities
Teaching procedures:

1. Q: What about English? Do people all around the world speak the same kind of English?
Show the Ss the picture on Page Nine. Ask the Ss to find out the difference.
2. Show the Ss a short video. Introduce the brief content of the dialogue : It抯 a dialoigue between a man and a woman. They are both British. But the man has just come back from America. He is confused about which words to use. Find out the different words used between BrE AmE . Fill in the blanks according to the video.

Show the Ss another picture. Ask the Ss what it is and how to spell it.
