The advantages of genetically modified food 1.High nutrition An estimated 30% of the world population is in iron deficiency,through transgenic technology,the content of iron in rice will increase 2.Resistant More sturdier and robust Being resistant to drought, disease and pests. 3.Improving taste Some fruit and vegetables are nutritious, but taste is bad.Through genetic engineering, scientists can produce more delicious plant products,which is beneficial to human and the development of food industry. 4.Improing food quality It is difficult to keep the fruit too long,the genetic engineering,for one,makes it possible to extend storage time,for another,increase the drought resistance of plants in some areas that is out of water supply. 5.Stoping hunger Over 20% of these people are suffering from poverty and hunger. GM foods are easier to grow and bring higher yields. 6.Friend environment GM foods are good for the environment. They use fewer pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers, and, therefore, cause less pollution. 7.Helping medicine GM foods can be used in producing pharmacological products which contain the production of antibodies, bio-pharmaceuticals and edible vaccines in plants.
