The impact on the economy of the appreciation of the RMB？ 1997年2月，泰国出现了第一次泰铢贬值风波，泰国中央银行运用20亿美元的外汇储备干预外汇市场，平息了这次风波。 1997年5月12日，国际金融市场上再次盛传泰铢贬值，引发泰铢汇率大幅波动。泰国中央银行通过“东亚中央银行总裁会议”的会员国，联合干预外汇市场，以百亿美元的代价把汇率维持在25泰铢兑1美元的价位，但此时，泰铢贬值压力进一步增加，外汇市场出现了恐慌性抛售。而泰国中央银行在多次干预后，外汇储备大幅度下降 到1997年6月底，泰国外汇储备下降300亿美元，失去了继续干预外汇市场的能力。1997年7月2日，泰国政府被迫宣布放弃钉住汇率制度，实行有管理的浮动汇率制度，当天泰铢汇率最低曾达到1美元兑32.6铢，贬值幅度高达30%以上。 泰铢大幅度贬值，不仅给泰国经济造成重大灾难，而且迅速波及菲律宾、马来西亚、新加坡、韩国和印度尼西亚等整个东南亚地区，最终引发了震惊世界的亚洲金融危机。 内部原因： 1、出口产品结构单一； 2、举借外债饥不择食, 短期外债居高不下； 3、泰国经常项目的巨额逆差及财政收支的巨额赤字； 4、过分依赖于举借外债来弥补资本缺口 5、资本项目过早开放； 6、金融机构信贷投向不合理； 7、外汇储备水平偏低。 8、汇率制度缺乏弹性， * Type of lender or investor Private / Official.
