The present paper attempts to analyze an adaptation on the basis of functional theory of translation. The analyses of the source text , the translation purposeTT function and the target readership indicate that adaptation is a reasonable practice that can be explained with the functional theory of translation. It is hoped that the findings will give some insight to the practitioners in the real translation situations.
