The diabeticratswererandomizedinto4groupsandreceived4weekslater25mg/kg(n=9), 50mg/kg(n=9), 200mg/kg(n=9) irbesartanintragastrically,orequalvolumeofwater(modelgroup, n=11)onadailybasis.Sevennormalratsreceivingwith equalvolumeofwaterservedasthenormal control. Alltheratsweresacrificed after 8weeksand the24-houralbumin excretion,renalmassindexandthevolumeoftheglomerulusweremeasured. ResultsThe24-houralbuminexcretion,renal massindexandvolumeoftheglomerulusinthe3irbesartangroupsweresignificantlydecreasedascomparewiththoseinthe modelgroup; thereductionsin50and200mg/kgirbesartangourpsweresignificantgreaterthanthosein25mg/kgirbesartan group.
