A bstract: In order to nderstand themechanism ofCaO-T iO type clogging of SEN in contin -

o sly castingT -i bearing stainless steel expermi ents inwh ich al m ina graphite rod w as mi mersed
into 321 molten steelw as cond cted in an A rgon atmosphere graph ite-t be f rnace in the labo-
ratory. R es lts show that clogging of SEN is ca sed by deposition ofCaO-T iO incl sions on the

s rface of the refractory rod. As the res lt the n mber of incl sions in steel w ill be obvio sly
increased and the clogging layer comes to be thicker accordingly. A ltho gh increase in the hot
metal temperat re by 50 can hardly affect formation of the type of oxide incl sions in steel,
yet itw ill sign ificantly red ce the solidifiedmetal in the clogging layer and th smake the clog-
ging layer b
