Teaching procedures:
Step1: Revision(5’)
1. Ask some questions about amazing things.
2. Ask Ss to read the article about amazing things, see if they have know something about the amazing things. Correct the mistakes.
Step 2:Part A (20’)
1. Show two pictures, present “amazing”.
2.Beijing Sunshine Secondary School is holding a writing competition. The topic is ‘Amazing things’. Here are Millie, Simon and Amy’s notes. Explain the tallest man, Sandwiches, and amazing TV to the students.
3.Simon wrote the draft about the amazing things on his computer .However, he could not remember some of the facts. Help him complete it with the notes in Part A.
(1).Remind Ss of the different examples of styles of writing presented throughout the book.
(2). Explain the context of the writing competition. Then ask them to read Suzy’s notes about fish in Part A.
(3). Ask students to read the model writing about fish. Ask them to complete the notes.
(4).Ask the Ss to choose an interesting animal or an interesting fact to write.
(5).If Ss still find it too difficult to find interesting facts on their own, ask them to read the notes about elephants.
(6).Ask Ss to add pictures to add pictures and illustrations to decorate their work.
Step3: Competetion.(boys and girls) (10’)
1 Ask some questions about the tallest man.
2 Fill in the blanks about the tallest man.
3 Ask some questions about Sandwiches.
4 Fill in the blanks about Sandwic
