On Emily Bronte and Wuthering Heights ? ? 1.????? Introduction 1.1 Emily Bronte’s life Emily Bronte , the greatest female English novelist and poet ,was born in 1818 . She was one of the 3 famous Bronte sisters , and of the daughters of a poor clergyman in the little village of Haworth , Yorkshire , in northern England .Her mother died in 1821 . She ran wild of the moors , read literature and wrote childish stories .In 1824 Emily was sent to a charity school , a veritable prison where the poor children were cruelly treated .After sometime , Emily were brought home to be educated by her father . So she did not get much formal schooling in her young days . She worked as governess in rich family for some time .Then she , together with her sisters , planned to start a private school of her own but got no pupils . For sometime Emily went to Brussels to work in a boarding—school . Poor heath compelled her to return home where she devoted herself to literary work .In 1845 , the Bronte sisters contributed to a small joint volume .It was published in 1846 , but only 2 copies were sold in that year . Then she started novel writing ,and the Wuthering Heights appeared in 1847 .
