Many people visit museums when they travel to new places. What is it that makes museums so attractive to so many visitors? The answer varies from person to person as his/her perspectives and attitudes differ. From my point of view, the spectacles, the condensed history and art, and various ways of entertainment are all reasons that help explain the popularity of museums. People can enjoy the spectacular view in the museums in their own eyes. Extinct animals such as dinosaurs are among those things that we have read in books but some detailed features are still not accessible and remain unclear in our mind. However, in the museums, seeing the impressively huge skeleton for ourselves are so enjoyable that the mental image would last for quite a long time. Other spectacular views in museums might include magnificent ancient artifacts, famous paintings and models of rockets of modern times, all of which can be soul-shocking! Hardly can we achieve the same effect by means of reading books or watching TV. Meanwhile, museums offer an excellent way for people to further learn and appreciate the art and history of a particular place. Helen Keller interpreted a museum as a place with condensed art and history, to which I certainly agree. For instance, the magnificent Forbidden City conveys to people from all over the world what Chinese architecture is like and how artistic conception-the unity of heaven and humanity, is expressed through such amazing architecture. I have also visited a museum centered on calligraphy and painting in my hometown. A painting which depicts the life of people in Song Dynasty vividly overwhelmed me with its colors, lines and contents. It was not until then that I attached importance to Song Dynasty and I gained more and more knowledge about it since then. Finally, modern museums actually provide not only new things to learn, but also various kinds of relaxation and entertainment. Even most nominally educational museums provide exciting attractions
