The engine department is very important .It is always regards as the heart of the ship. There are some types of marine machinery in the engine room. Such as Main engine and Auxiliary machinery, ship’s safety equipment, anti-pollution equipment and emergency equipment. Anti-pollution equipments such as oily water separator, incinerator can prevent pollution to the sea. Emergency equipment such as emergency generator can supply the power when the ship is black-out. Ship’s safety equipment such as fire fighting equipment can be applied to avoid the disastrous fire at sea. 2. The engine department. (1)Introduction of the importance of the engine department on board. (2)Introduction of personnel of the engine department. (3) Description of work in the engine department. The engine department is very important .They are responsible for the satisfactory operation of machinery and equipment.There are four engineers, six motormen and two electricians in the engine department. We work in the engine room every day and do watch keeping in turn. We maintain, repair and operate all machinery and electrical equipment in the engine room.We maintain and repair all safety equipment ,pumps, motors and so on. No matter what happens, we will work together and help each other. When some equipment goes wrong, we repair it together. 3. Self –introduction. (1) Your education background.
