The radius of tool nose radius re has double effects on surface roughness: when re increases, the residual height decreases; on the other hand, the deformation increases. Because of the big influence of the former, the surface roughness will decrease when the tool radius is re. Therefore, under the condition of stiffness allowable, increasing the tool radius re is a good method to reduce the surface roughness. The smaller the deflection angle k R, the lower the surface roughness. But reducing the auxiliary deflection angle is easy to cause vibration, so reducing the deflection angle must depend on the rigidity of the machine tool system. When the K R is large to a certain value, the secondary edge does not participate in the composition of the residual area, and then the addition of k R does not increase the surface roughness value.
