Methods　Extracts of cassia seed obtained under different conditions of extraction were scanned by UV at 190～ 400 nm with a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. Results　Aqueous and alcoholic aqueous extracts showed an absorption peak at 278 nm, while an ethanolic extract was devoid of such peak, and its ab- sorbance at 237～ 400 nm was 0. The absorbance of an aqueous extract of cassia seed stored at ambient temperature was lower than that stored at refrigerator temperature, but increased with the time of decoc- tion. The UV spectrum showed no change when cassia seed was extracted in combination with Chry san the- mum morif olium Ramat. , P runel la vu lgaris L. or Uncar ia rhy chop hy lla (Miq. ) Jacks., but theformer de- creased, while
