THE LIFE ON THE WAY OF THE SON OF MAY FOURTH ——THE RESEARCH OF Zhong Jingwen`s ESSAY ABSTRACT The text holds the whole of Zhong Jingwen`essay from regarding it as the history of spirit, and tends to contribute the consciousness of culture according to case study to Zhong Jingwen. It is on the position of young researcher and takes Chinese modern history of 20 century as setting to therough Zhong Jingwen`s spirit world, and feel the spirit course of the young intellectuals affected by May Fourth and new culture in the roily time, and takes the consciousness of culture out from prevalent knowledge thought at present, and pays more attention to their spirit character and takes it by way of core of culture imparting——humanitarian sensibility and revolutionary ideal. The text is made up of foreword, main body and conclusion. The foreword simply sets forth the signification of choosing and researching Zhong Jingwen`s essay, and introduces the basal survey about his essay and researching it, and makes clear the structure of the text. The main body divides into three parts from the time of writing them, the progress of his thought and the confines of 1930 and 1949. It embodies that: The first part analyses the text with “Lichi Essay”, “Sensibility on the Xihu” and “the Lift on the Xihu” with the process from Guangzhou to Hangzhou, and therough Zhong Jingwen`s spirit world in 1920s. The second part concludes three sections, primarily settles and researches his essay in 1930s and 1940s. The first two sections discourse upon the spirit relation of Zhong Jingwen and Romain Rolland, Chekhov and Tolstoy,Leo, feel humanitarian sensibility of the Chinese intellectuals in 20 century. The last section analyses Zhong Jingwen`s reportage, discusses the ch
