Model－Use to specify classes of options from which you customers can choose when ordering configurable items. Planning－Use to specify items that belong to the same product line(product family). Model Bills of Material The two types of model bills of material are Pick to order－Your customer chooses options and you ship the components for customer assembly. Assemble to order－Your customer chooses options and you assemble the components before shipping. You don抰 build model assemblies;you final assemble a configuration item on a final assembly schedule. You can assign planning percentages to the components and use model bills of material for aggregate forecasting. Bill of Material Revisions Datestamp and timestamp all changes tha you make to bills of material Phantom items you may create phantom item in the manufacturing process,but you do not hold the subassembly in inventory to use in later manufacturing process. Typically ,processes(for example,a discrete job pick list)that detect a phantom item ignore the phantom item and substitute the phantom item抯 components for the phantom. Bills of Material in Multiple Organizations you may create bills of material in each organization that uses them. Primary and Alternate Bills of Material Each item can have one primary bill and many alternate bills, you may identify each alternate bill by naming it. Oracle MRP and CST use primary Bill, and when you create WIP job, you can specify which bill to use to create the pick list
