Institute of Vegetables and Flo ers, ChineseA cademy ofAgricultural Sciences, Beijing 100081, China) 　　Ab stract:Some mi portant physiological and biochem ical traits of three varieties of lily during dormancy release of the bulb under cold treatment ere studied. The results indicated that the starch contents decreased and soluble sugar contents increased in lily bulbs treated ith lo temperature. Soluble protein contents in the lily bulbs decreased as a hole, but increased in certain stages during the perrod of lo temperature trea-t men.t There ere significant differences in the changes of the starch, soluble sugar and soluble protein con- tents in the scales of different varieties and parts of the bulbs. The change degrees in the m iddle and interior scales ere higher than those in the exterior scales, and the change degree of ‘Yello Baby’ ashigher than that of ‘CebDazzle’and ‘Casa Blanca’.
